MARKET UPDATE - Takeaway From Geopolitical Experts - EPRA ReThink Conference
This market update will be short, but important nonetheless.
I recently attended the EPRA ReThink conference, the largest REIT conference in Europe, which draws participation from some of the world's largest and most sophisticated real estate investment firms, including Vonovia (VNA / VONOY) and Realty Income (O).
One of the most interesting panels was on geopolitics.
We are currently navigating a highly uncertain world, marked by the largest conflict in Europe since World War II, escalating tensions in the Middle East, and China's looming threat of invasion in Taiwan. These factors contribute to a complex geopolitical landscape that raises concerns about global stability and security.
The panel was held by two of the world's most famous historians: Niall Ferguson and Andrew Roberts.
Sir Niall Ferguson, MA, D.Phil., is the Milbank Family Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University, and a senior faculty fellow of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard, where he served for twelve years as the Laurence A. Tisch Professor of History.
Andrew Roberts is an English popular historian, journalist and member of the House of Lords. He is the Roger and Martha Mertz Visiting Research Fellow in the Hoover Institution in Stanford University and a Lehrman Institute Distinguished Lecturer in the New York Historical Society.
