Important Announcements: Ukraine Trip & Asian REIT Opportunities

This is Jussi and I have a few quick announcements to make.

Firstly, I am happy to report that our last trip to Ukraine was a big success.

This was our 4th convoy already and it was the biggest yet. 

Members of High Yield Landlord donated a total of $75,000 for this trip and it allowed us to buy 5 more cars and some medical supplies for Ukrainian soldiers fighting Russia's invasion.

This was only possible thanks to your generosity so thank you so much for supporting the cause! 

Anyone who donated over $100 will receive a badge as promised. I have been informed that they are still in Ukraine but as soon as they arrive in Estonia, they will be shipped to you. Thank you for your patience! 

On this last convoy, we also had 4 of our most generous HYL members join us. I have said this before and I will repeat it again: the amount of support from all of you is really mind-blowing to me. Most of you have never even met me in person and yet, you are trusting me enough to support this cause. I am so grateful to have such generous people on board this community as this makes a big difference for Ukraine.

My next trip to Ukraine will likely be in the fall. I will announce it a few weeks prior to it just in case some of you want to help in one way or another.

And here's the second announcement:

We are preparing a big field trip to Asia and the Pacific to look for new REIT investment opportunities.

Something unique about High Yield Landlord is that we don't cover just US REITs, but we also cover foreign markets.

There are over 30 countries with a REIT regime and often, the best opportunities are abroad:

But real estate is a very local business and unless you have boots on the ground and actually talk to local people, it is hard to know what's really happening in a country. 

That's why, each year, we organize field trips to foreign countries in an effort to uncover new hidden gems for our International Portfolio.

In 2019, I spent 3 months in Asia looking for the best Asian REIT opportunities. In 2020, we did not get to travel due to the pandemic, but as borders reopened in early 2021, I went to Dubai, UAE to look for the best Middle Eastern REIT opportunities. Later in the year, I also spend a few weeks in Canada to meet local REIT management teams. Then in early 2022, we also looked for opportunities in South America and later in the year, I also went to Israel and Africa.

These trips have led to some interesting investment opportunities that I expect to earn strong returns over the long run, and equally important, it has helped us stay away from some bad companies. 

What's next?

In September, I will head back to Asia. 

This is an important region of the world that's currently underrepresented in our International Portfolio: 

I will first fly to India in early September. 

From there, I will first head to Singapore and then to Hong Kong, which are some of the biggest REIT markets in Asia. 

Finally, I will make my way to Japan and Australia, which are also big REIT markets that we have not yet properly explored. 

I expect to meet with several REIT management teams in an effort to find the best Asian opportunities and will share all our best ideas here at High Yield Landlord.
