Hey,
As Christmas approaches, many of us are thinking about gifts, family, and celebration. But this year, my biggest gift won’t be under a tree. It will be for the Ukrainian soldiers who are fighting, not just for their own country, but for the future of freedom and democracy worldwide.
Ukraine is battling more than just Russia. They are standing on the frontlines against the axis of evil—an alliance of authoritarian regimes in Russia, North Korea, Iran, and China. If anyone had doubts about the gravity of this war, North Korean troops are now confirmed to be fighting alongside Russian forces in Ukraine. This collaboration removes any ambiguity about the nature of the conflict: it is a fight against tyranny and oppression.
If Ukraine falls, we are not just looking at the redrawing of borders in Europe. We are looking at a seismic shift in global power—a world where oppressive regimes hold even more sway.
Think about what that means, not just for Ukraine but for all of us. Russia’s collaboration with North Korea, Iran’s support, and China’s strategic backing show us exactly who we are dealing with. These nations, united in their disregard for freedom and human rights, would take this victory as a green light to spread their influence globally. Therefore, this war’s impact won’t stop at Ukraine’s borders. It will ripple across the United States, Europe, Asia, the the global economy, threatening the very values of freedom and democracy that we hold dear.
This is the single biggest risk that we are facing today.
That’s why we all need to help. This is not just Ukraine’s fight—it is our fight too. This Christmas, let’s do what is right, not just for our own security, but for the justice and freedom that Ukraine is fighting for. Let’s give a gift that truly matters—one that helps Ukraine fight for their freedom and ours.
How We Are Helping: 'Freedom Convoys'
This war resonates deeply with me as a Finn, given our long history of resisting Russian aggression, and as a reserve intelligence officer, I know that if this conflict escalates, I’d be among the first called back to defend my country.
Recognizing the stakes early in the war, I knew I had to get involved, which led me to help organize what we call ‘freedom convoys.’
We identified critical gaps in the support Ukraine was receiving, and one of the most pressing issues was a lack of basic transportation. While Ukraine is being supplied with sophisticated weaponry, they often face a shortage of vehicles, leading to unnecessary loss of life. Soldiers struggle to evacuate the wounded or escape artillery attacks simply because they lack the means to move quickly.
To address this, we began purchasing trucks and equipping them for combat. These vehicles are outfitted with camouflage, mud tires, drone jammers, and night vision to withstand the harsh conditions on the battlefield.
Initially, our efforts were entirely self-funded. I even purchased a few trucks myself, proudly placing the Finnish and Ukrainian flags side by side on them as a symbol of solidarity.
But as the war intensified, the need for more resources became apparent and that’s when we turned to our community to help raise funds.
Two years on, we’ve delivered 439 trucks to Ukrainian soldiers—more than many individual countries have provided. Our efforts are now supported by Rotary and endorsed by prominent politicians and entrepreneurs.
What began as a small community initiative has had a significant impact on the battlefield, and I’m proud to say that the High Yield Landlord community has risen to the occasion in an extraordinary way, playing a crucial role in these efforts.
What We’ve Achieved So Far
Thanks to your generosity, we’ve raised about $400,000, which has allowed us to buy and deliver 20 trucks filled with critical supplies to Ukrainian soldiers. I am constantly blown away by the generosity of our members. Some of you have donated upwards of $30,000, while many others have contributed $1,000–$10,000. Even the smaller donations—$100 to $500—have added up to make an incredible impact. Together, we are making a real difference:
The Next Convoy: How You Can Help
I will soon head back to Ukraine for my 6th trip and I am again raising donations from family, friends, and my community here at High Yield Landlord to deliver Christmas gifts to the Ukrainian frontlines.
Our goal is to raise a total of $61,800 in order to buy three trucks that will be equipped with mud tires, nigh vision, and drone jammers.
These trucks will then be donated to three specific units that have been selected by our team based on their critical needs:
1st Artillery Division, 3rd Spartan Brigade
Assault Drone Company, UAV Battalion, 66 Separate Mechanized Brigade
Mortar Battery, 2 Battalion, 23 Mechanized Brigade
They each filmed a short clip for us that you can watch on our website.
There, you will also see that we have set up some incentives for each donor:
Badges of Honor: All donors will receive a badge as a keepsake of their contribution, something you can proudly display as a symbol of your support for Ukraine. This badge would make a great addition to your Christmas tree to remind your family of the gift that you made to support Ukraine.
Personalized Vehicles: Based on your donation, you can also have your country’s flag, company logo or a personal message placed on one of the trucks we send to the frontlines.
Join the Convoy: For our largest donors, there's the incredible opportunity to join me on this next convoy to Kyiv! My father and my brother will also join this one. Imagine seeing the difference you’re making firsthand, meeting the soldiers you’re helping, and experiencing Ukraine’s resilience up close. If this interests you, make sure to read the Q&A below.
I have said this before, but I'll repeat again: for most of us, it makes no real difference whether we have an extra $1,000 in our account or not, but it could make a huge difference for the people in Ukraine.
In my mind, this is the best kind of charity because all of the volunteers work for free, we take all the risks ourselves, and we even top up donations with our own money. Typically, if you donate $1,000 to a charity, you would be happy if half of that actually goes into helping people. Here, it is the opposite. Every dollar you give goes directly to the cause and we stretch your donation by contributing our own time, resources, and funds—it’s a true value investment in the future of freedom, and that is why I am putting my own money into this effort.

Q&A Section
(1) How can I donate?
We have set up a website to raise donations and you can donate with a wire transfer, credit card, Apple Pay, PayPal, or even crypto.
Please visit the website and scroll down to the "DONATE" section.

(2) Is my donation tax-deductible?
Please note that if you donate more than $1,000, you can do 501c3 donation to our partner in the USA and enjoy a tax deduction.
On our website, scroll down further to find the section "501c3 Donation". There you will find a link to make a donation.
Please also inform me if you make such a donation. Here is my email address: jaskola@leonbergcapital.com
Thank you!
(3) What is the name of your organization?
The name of our group is "help99" and you can learn more about it by clicking here. We are backed by "Rotary", which is one of the world's largest charity organizations, and most of our donations go through them:
We have had many high-profile politicians and entrepreneurs support our efforts and join us on our convoys. Here is what we have achieved so far:
We are also well-connected in Ukraine. As an example, our group just recently met with Ukraine's then Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba:
(4) What are the badge designs? How can I get my badge?
You will see three different designs on our website by clicking here.
NAFO, short for the North Atlantic Fella Organization, is a clever play on 'NATO.' It represents a grassroots social media movement aimed at countering Russian disinformation while crowdfunding aid to support Ukraine’s fight for freedom.
The first one is Budanov, Ukraine's head of Intelligence, dressed as Santa Claus handing over a Christmas gift to Dictator Putin.
The second one is an anti-communism logo.
The third one is two hands in the colors of the Finnish and Ukrainian flags.
After donating, you will be requested to provide an address for the delivery of the badge. We ship worldwide!
(5) I want to donate and join the convoy. What should I know?
The minimum donation to join our convoy is $10,850. It may sound like much, but it really isn't for what you are getting in return.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime type of experience that you typically couldn't get with any sum of money because you need to have the right relationships to join such a trip. We handle all the paperwork and the logistics so that you can just join us for the ride and enjoy the experience.
It may also sound dangerous, but it really isn't as bad as it may seem. Even foreign Presidents and celebrities regularly visit Kyiv these days. Ukraine is a very big country and the real fighting is happening far away. Kyiv now also has a good air defense system and there are very few casualties relative to the size of the city these days.
This will be an unforgettable trip on which you will get to meet me, the whole crew, and Ukrainian defenders of course. You will actually make a difference in this war, get to spend 2 nights at a nice hotel in Kyiv (it has a bomb shelter!), visit this beautiful city, and participate in other memorable activities.
One of our members, Stan Miller, made a generous $25,000 donation earlier this year and joined us on one of our convoys. He made a 5-minute video about the experience:
Since then, we have had many more members join us on these convoys and all of them thought that it was well worth the money.
This coming trip will take place in the second week of December and it will last for 5 days.
You will fly to Tallinn, Estonia a day or two ahead of the trip.
We will then drive from Tallinn, Estonia, all the way to Kyiv, Ukraine - going through Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland - so you will get to see 5 countries in this one trip!
You will be at least 2 people in each car so that you can switch drivers and rest when you get tired. We also stop every few hours to rest, eat, and get coffee.
(Note that if you cannot drive, that is not a problem. Just let me know and we will organize additional drivers)
We will handle all the paperwork ahead of the trip so that you can enter Ukraine without any problems. You just need to have a passport that won't expire within 6 months from your entry into Ukraine.
Once we arrive in Kyiv, we will leave all the cars at a parking lot, go to the hotel, take a shower, and head for a nice dinner. This is the time for us to celebrate another successful convoy.
Kyiv has a strict curfew that starts at midnight. By that time, we need to be back at the hotel, but its lobby bar is open till later in case you are not ready to go to sleep yet.
The next day, we will meet Ukrainian soldiers to give them the cars and supplies. We also get to talk with them and take pictures.
On the same day, we will likely visit Kyiv, Bucha, and Hostomel airport, and have other activities. I can't promise anything, but so far, we have always had some cool activities for participants.
We expect to stay 2 nights in Kyiv so you will have plenty of time to visit the city, try Ukrainian cuisine, and enjoy other activities.
After 2 nights in Kyiv, we will take a night train back to Warsaw, Poland. You will have your bed on the train and it is quite comfortable!
From Warsaw, you can then fly back home with all these memories, or you can stay for another night or two at a nice spa/hotel. That's typically what I do. You will be a bit tired after this trip and need some rest. Warsaw is a very nice city and even its fanciest hotels are very affordable.
Note that we cover most expenses, including the hotel in Kyiv, dinner on the first night, and the train back to Warsaw.
If you want to join the convoy, please send me an email at jaskola@leonbergcapital.com
You can also learn more about the trip by watching this video documentary from the famous Youtuber, Artur Rehi (700,000 subscribers), who regularly joins our convoys:
(6) What are the exact dates of the convoy?
It will start on the second week of December.
I will give you the exact dates after you reach out to me so that we can discuss your arrival to Tallinn, Estonia.
Please send me an email at jaskola@leonbergcapital.com
(7) I can't join in December. Can I join another convoy?
Yes!
If you donate $10,850 or more, but can't join us on this convoy, you can also join us at a later date when you are ready. We have already organized 30+ convoys and there will be many more.
Just let me know so that we can reserve a spot for you as we may not run this same campaign in the future.
(8) Can I take a friend with me?
Of course!
As long as the donation is at least $10,850 per person, you can take as many people as you want with you. We can always buy additional cars and supplies with the funds.
(9) Do you have any other questions?
Please let me know in the comment section or send me an email at jaskola@leonbergcapital.com and I will be happy to help!
This Christmas, let’s give a gift that truly matters. Let’s stand with Ukraine and show the world that, when freedom is under attack, we come together to defend it.

I wanted to make one more addition:
I understand that you are here at High Yield Landlord to get research on REIT investment opportunities and may not care much about Russia's invasion of Ukraine or even agree with my take on it.
If you are in that category, that is perfectly fine and you can simply ignore this message. We will be back to REIT research next week with an article covering a new potential opportunity.
If I can help with anything else, please let me know!
Have a great week and thank you for your support :)
